Cutler-Hammer KD3150 Circuit Breaker

The KD3150 is a Cutler Hammer C series circuit breaker with interchangeable trip units. All K-Frame Cutler Hammer Breakers are HACR-rated. The KD3150 is not UL-listed for reverse feed applications. A KDB can be used for a reverse feed application. The KD3150 is available in a frame only model known as a KD3400F. The “F” at the end of the part number indicates frame only. To form a complete breaker, a trip unit is combined with the frame (KD3400F + KT3150T = KD3150.) You might also see this breaker as KD3150W (Without Terminals). Lugs are typically required on breaker’s load side when installed. The KD3150 is available as individual componets (Frame, Trip, Terminals) or as complete breakers. Cutler-Hammer Molded Case Circuit Breakers are designed to provide circuit protection for low voltage distribution systems. They are described by NEMA as, “. . . a device for closing and interrupting a circuit between separable contacts under both normal and abnormal conditions,” and furthermore as, “. . . a breaker assembled as an integral unit in a supporting and enclosing housing of insulating material.” The NEC describes them as, "A device designed to open and close a circuit by non-automatic means, and to open the circuit automatically on a predetermined overload of current, without injury to itself when properly applied within its rating.” So designed, Cutler-Hammer circuit breakers protect conductors against overloads and conductors and connected apparatus, such as motors and motor starters, against short circuits.
